Softball Game Preview: Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans vs. Charlotte Latin Hawks

The Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans will take on the Charlotte Latin Hawks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Wesleyan Christian Academy has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the match with four straight losses, while Charlotte Latin will come in with four straight wins.

Wesleyan Christian Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mackenzie Smith, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Charlotte Latin got themselves on the board against Greater Cabarrus S on Monday, but Greater Cabarrus S never followed suit. They blew past the Stallions 15-0. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won three contests by 12 runs or more this season.

Ainsley Sullivan made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in April of 2024. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Caroline Coble and Lila McConnell did most of the damage at the plate: Coble scored three runs while going 4-for-4, while McConnell went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI and two runs. The dominant performance gave Coble a new career-high in hits. Another player making a difference was Addie Speece, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2.

Charlotte Latin was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .583. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .412 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.

Wesleyan Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 0-3. As for Charlotte Latin, their victory bumped their record up to 4-0.

Wesleyan Christian Academy took their win against Charlotte Latin when the teams last played back in April of 2021 by a conclusive 16-4. Will Wesleyan Christian Academy repeat their success, or does Charlotte Latin have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
