After 65 years and 28 New Jersey state basketball championships with perhaps the nation's most recognizable coach, St. Anthony is reported to be closing its doors.

Showtime Sports chronicled the now-confirmed final season of St. Anthony basketball.One of the nation's most renowned basketball programs led by one of the country's most famous coaches is shutting down.
According to NJ.com,
St. Anthony (Jersey City, N.J.) will suspend operations at the end of the school year due to lack of enrollment and funding. Hall of Fame coach Bob Hurley, also the school's principal, plans to meet with the staff Wednesday to make the announcement.
The 65-year-old school is best known for its basketball program, which has produced 28 state titles with Hurley as coach. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2010 and amassed nearly 1,200 wins in 39 seasons.
The Friars were recognized as national champions by MaxPreps 2011 and 2012 following back-to-back undefeated seasons. St. Anthony was also crowned national champs by the National Prep Poll in 1989, 1996 and 2008.
Hurley was named MaxPreps National Coach of the Year in 2011.
The program has produced more than 150 NCAA Division I players, including former or current NBA players Kyle Anderson, Terry Dehere, David Rivers, Tyshawn Taylor and Bobby Hurley.
