Basketball Game Preview: Sam Houston Texans vs. Grand Prairie Gophers

Sam Houston is on a four-game streak of home losses, Grand Prairie a 12-game streak of away losses dating back to last season, but someone's luck will change on Friday. The Sam Houston Texans will host the Grand Prairie Gophers at 6:00 p.m. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Last Tuesday, Sam Houston had to suffer through a 59-22 loss at the hands of Lamar. While losing is never fun, the Texans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1034th, while the Vikings are ranked 375th).

Meanwhile, Grand Prairie was beaten by South Grand Prairie 68-9 on Tuesday.

Grand Prairie's loss dropped their record down to 0-19. As for Sam Houston, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-12.

Everything came up roses for Sam Houston against Grand Prairie when the teams last played back in January of 2023, as the team secured a 61-25 victory. Does Sam Houston have another victory up their sleeve, or will Grand Prairie turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
