The Fredericksburg Christian Eagles will head out to face off against the Saint Gertrude Gators at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. One thing working in Fredericksburg Christian's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last three matches.
Fredericksburg Christian made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Colonial Beach, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Eagles blew past the Drifters 16-0 on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by eight runs or more this season.

Scarlett Whittaker made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
In other batting news, Rylie Johnson and Haylie Johnson did most of the damage at the plate: Rylie scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3, while Haylie scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-3. Rylie has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Layton Trible was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.
Fredericksburg Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .529. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, Saint Gertrude came up short against Bishop Ireton on Thursday and fell 9-6. The Gators have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Like Fredericksburg Christian, Saint Gertrude also got a great game from a two-way player: Sophie Sims. On the mound, she struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and eight unearned) runs off seven hits (and not a single walk). Those hits marked the first that Sims allowed this season. She was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 4-for-4.
In other batting news, Campbell Kincaid was cooking despite her team's loss, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4. Sophia Covington also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Fredericksburg Christian now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Saint Gertrude, their loss dropped their record down to 1-5.
Everything went Fredericksburg Christian's way against Saint Gertrude in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as Fredericksburg Christian made off with a 13-7 win.
