Basketball Recap: Littleton Lions vs. Conifer Lobos
The Littleton Lions won the last time they faced the Conifer Lobos, and things went their way on Wednesday too. Littleton blew past the Lobos, posting a 61-21 win at home. The team ran away with 56 points in the first half and mostly just sat on those to pick up the victory.
Littleton had a senior duo take command as Jacy Chandler scored 18 points along with five assists and five steals and Penny Urquhart almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. Urquhart is crushing the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Erica Levene, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Conifer saw an underclassman step up: Megan Swearengin scored nine points. That was a full 42.9% of Conifer's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
The win got Littleton back to even at 9-9. As for Conifer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-14.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Littleton's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Gators at 11:30 a.m. on February 3rd. Standley Lake has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 179 points over their last three matchups. As for Conifer, they will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Evergreen presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Lobos in Colorado (the Cougars are ranked 60th, while the Lobos are ranked 283rd).
