The Belvidere North Blue Thunder will head out to face off against the Freeport Pretzels at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Freeport took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Belvidere North, who comes in off a win.
Belvidere North gave up the first runs on Monday, but they didn't let that get them down. They narrowly escaped with a win as the squad sidled past Harlem 10-8. The Blue Thunder haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ava Morris made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off three hits. Morris was also big at the plate, going 4-for-5 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Isabelle Schadle was excellent, going 2-for-5 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Alexis Murphy was another key player, going 3-for-5 with four RBI.
Belvidere North kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Harlem only managed nine hits.
Meanwhile, Freeport was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost an 8-7 heartbreaker at the hands of Jefferson.
Hannah Stott and Madison Davison stepped up to the plate in a big way. Stott went 2-for-4 with one run, one double, and one RBI, while Davison went 1-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that Davison has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Quinn Krzeminiski, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Belvidere North's record now sits at 7-8. As for Freeport, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.
Belvidere North took their win against Freeport when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 13-1 score. Will the Blue Thunder repeat their success, or do the Pretzels have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
