After losing to Independence the last time they met, Walnut Ridge decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Scots blew past the 76ers 73-39 on Friday. The Scots pushed the score to 69-34 by the end of the third, a deficit the 76ers cut but never quite recovered from.

Walnut Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Deja Briggs led the charge by shooting 44% from the field on her way to 27 points and seven boards. That's the most rebounds Briggs has posted since back in December of 2024. Another player making a difference was J'Khyla Foster, who put up 15 points along with eight steals and seven assists.

Walnut Ridge now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Independence, their loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. Walnut Ridge will square off against rival West at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Independence is set to challenge their familiar foe Briggs at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
