Baseball Recap: Kingsburg Comes Up Short

Kingsburg fell victim to Clovis West and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They took a 5-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Clovis West Golden Eagles. The matchup marked the first time this season in which the Vikings were not able to get on the board.

Travis Clifton was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out eight batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits.

On the hitting side, Kingsburg saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jensen Hirschkorn, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Kingsburg's loss dropped their record down to 5-3. As for Clovis West, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.

Coming up, Kingsburg will challenge Washington Union at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Clovis West, they will take on Centennial at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Centennial's pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so Clovis West's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
