Softball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Indiana's Ninth in Last 11 Outings

With a playoff win on the line, Indiana rose to the challenge on Monday. They skirted past the Uniontown Red Raiders 3-2. This was a revenge game for the Little Indians: when they faced off against the Red Raiders back in March, they had to take a 2-0 loss.

Samantha Martin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Indiana saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Anna Carnovale, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI. That's the most hits Carnovale has posted since back in March.

Indiana is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last 11 games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-10 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Uniontown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-10.

Indiana has already played their next contest, a 9-0 defeat against Hampton on the 15th. Uniontown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
