            Baseball Recap: Niwot Cougars vs. Longmont Trojans        
        
		
        
        
            Niwot hadn't done well against Longmont recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way  on Tuesday. The Cougars walked away with  a   6-1  win over the Trojans. The  victory was a breath of fresh air for the Cougars as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.

 Jagger Kilpatrick was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he  tossed two innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   two  hits. He also  tossed  no  earned runs, which is notable because Niwot is 2-1 when he allows at  most  one  earned run, but 2-4 otherwise. Kilpatrick was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with three  RBI, one  triple,  and one  double. Those  three  RBI gave  him a new career-high.
 In other batting news,  Charlie Shaw was  excellent,  scoring two  runs and  stealing a base while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Niwot: the team is 2-1 when he posts  at  least  two  runs, but 2-4 otherwise.  Haden Shaw was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with one  double.
Niwot's record is now 4-5. As for Longmont, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-2.
 Coming up, Niwot will face off against Mead at 4:00  p.m.  on Thursday. As for Longmont, they will square off against Pueblo County at 1:00  p.m.  on Friday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average (the Trojans 2.6, the Hornets 2) so any  runs scored will be well earned.
