Football Recap: Xavier Prep Extends Home Winning Streak to Three + How To Watch

Xavier Prep hadn't done well against Palm Desert recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Saints secured a 19-14 W over the Aztecs. This was payback for the Saints, who suffered a 24-0 loss the last time these two teams met.

The critical scores for Xavier Prep came from Alexander Vazquez, Kingston Pellum, and Anderson Acosta.

Xavier Prep's run defense was locked in: Palm Desert could only muster three yards per carry. While one picked up at least eight total tackles, Jacob Vann stood above the rest. He picked up a sack, made eight total tackles, and defended one pass. Sadly, that's becoming something of a trend for Xavier Prep; they were averaging 5.8yards per carry per game earlier this season, but in their last three matchups they've fallen to only 4.4 per game.

Palm Desert lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Alfred 'AJ' Rivera Jr., who threw for 237 yards and one touchdown, and also rushed for 41 yards.

Xavier Prep pushed their record up to 5-1 with the win, which was their third straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 13.7 points on average over those games. As for Palm Desert, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
