Baseball Game Preview: Springfield Spartans vs. Norton Panthers

Springfield is 0-10 against Norton since April of 2021 but things could change on Monday. The Spartans will head out to challenge the Panthers at 5:00 p.m. Springfield has given up an average of 8.6 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Southeast hit Springfield with a nine-run sixth inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Spartans lost 13-3 to the Pirates.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Norton). They blew past Ravenna 9-0 on Friday. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since May 27, 2025 (when they won 12-2).

The win snapped Norton's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-4 record. As for Springfield, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-11.

Springfield came up short against Norton in their previous matchup back in April of 2025, falling 8-3. Can the Spartans avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
