Basketball Game Preview: Union City Indians vs. New Castle Trojans

Union City is 4-0 against New Castle since November of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Saturday. The Union City Indians will square off against the New Castle Trojans at 1:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Saturday, Union City came up short against Union County and fell 42-35. While losing is never fun, the Indians can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 333rd, while the Patriots are ranked 166th).

Union City's defeat came about despite a quality game from Oaklee Reichard, who went 6 of 15 on her way to 17 points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, New Castle was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 46-25 to Yorktown.

New Castle's record now sits at 4-15. As for Union City, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Union City against New Castle when the teams last played back in November of 2023, as the team secured a 50-23 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Union City since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
