Baseball Game Preview: Boca Raton Bobcats vs. St. John Paul II Academy Eagles

The Boca Raton Bobcats will head out to challenge the St. John Paul II Academy Eagles at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. Boca Raton is coming into the match on a five-game losing streak.

Boca Raton managed to slip by Jupiter the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Boca Raton lost 9-1 to Jupiter on Thursday.

Boca Raton saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Matthew Brollini, who went 2-for-3 with one double. Brollini also put up two hits, which were his first of the season.

Meanwhile, while St. John Paul II Academy put up plenty of runs on Wednesday, the same can't be said for Wellington. St. John Paul II Academy was the clear victors by a 14-0 margin over Wellington. The Eagles have beaten the Wolverines the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Wolverines has come to flipping the script.

The team relied heavily on Lincoln Dorland, who went 3-for-5 with five RBI, one stolen base, and one run. The team also got some help courtesy of Tommy Ciaccio, who scored two runs while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances.

St. John Paul II Academy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in three consecutive contests.

St. John Paul II Academy pushed their record up to 5-0-1 with the victory, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Boca Raton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-7.

Boca Raton was able to grind out a solid win over St. John Paul II Academy in their previous meeting back in April of 2024, winning 5-1. Does Boca Raton have another victory up their sleeve, or will St. John Paul II Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
