Baseball Recap: Scranton Victorious

Scranton's game last Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Saturday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Dallas Mountaineers, sneaking past 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Knights have posted since May 4, 2024.

Thor Kelly spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Scranton let Josh Leonori and Logan Wahlers run wild. Leonori scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Wahlers scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-2. That run was Leonori's first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Thomas, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.

Scranton's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-3. As for Dallas, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

Coming up, Scranton will take on Abington Heights at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Abington Heights' pitching crew has only allowed 1.6 runs per game this season, so Scranton's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Dallas, they will challenge Wilkes-Barre at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. This will be Dallas' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
