Basketball Recap: Karsten Dodson Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat St. Mary's

Regents Academy hadn't done well against St. Mary recently (they were 0-5 in their previous five matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Regents Academy Eagles put the hurt on St. Mary's with a sharp 60-35 victory. With the Eagles ahead 32-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Regents Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Karsten Dodson, who went 7 of 16 en route to 19 points along with eight assists and five boards. Dodson has been hot, having also posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Another player making a difference was Stephen Crescenzo, who posted seven points and six rebounds.

Regents Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive games.

St. Mary's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaylon Creer, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 10 points. Eithan Kimmerling was another key player, putting up six points.

Regents Academy's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-7. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.0 points per game. As for St. Mary's, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-11.

Regents Academy has already played their next contest, a 36-34 victory against Trinity School of Texas on the 28th. As for St. Mary's, they will head out to take on Athens Christian Preparatory Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 31st.
