Mountain View faced Meridian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Mavericks came up short against the Warriors, falling 3-0. The Mavericks' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

While Mountain View was kept off the board, it wasn't for a lack of trying: they cut into Meridian's winning margin in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-20, 25-21, 26-24.

Mountain View's loss came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Macy Minert, who had five digs and two aces. Minert has been hot, having also posted 12 or more assists the last six times she's played. Another player making a difference was Makayla Compton, who had seven digs and three aces.

Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5-2. As for Meridian, their win bumped their record up to 8-6.
