Baseball Recap: Sun Valley Comes Up Short

Sun Valley lost to Charlotte Catholic on Friday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Spartans might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 3-1 to the Cougars, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Spartans have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Connor Salerno was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out ten batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Sun Valley saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Beau Green, who went 1-for-3 with one run. Another was Ayden Matzke, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one RBI.

Sun Valley now has a losing record of 14-15. As for Charlotte Catholic, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-4 record this season.

As of now, neither Sun Valley nor Charlotte Catholic have any future games scheduled.
