Basketball Recap: Benjamin Davis Comes Up Short

Benjamin Davis lost against Nimitz back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Benjamin Davis Falcons lost to the Nimitz Cougars on the road by a 61-46 margin. While losing is never fun, the Falcons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1114th, while the Cougars are ranked 341st).

Nimitz was led to victory by Aniah Richard and Tatiyana Cole. Richard dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten assists, while Cole went 9 of 14 on her way to 19 points and six boards. Those ten assists gave Richard a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Williams, who posted nine points in addition to five assists and three steals.

Benjamin Davis dropped their record down to 6-17 with the defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Nimitz, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 21-8 record this season.

Benjamin Davis will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Aldine at 5:30 p.m. Benjamin Davis is facing Aldine at the right time seeing as Aldine is stuck on a 21-game losing streak. As for Nimitz, they will venture away from home to square off against Eisenhower at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
