Basketball Recap: Slidell Now 8-1 over Last Nine Games

Slidell won the last time they faced Era and things went their way on Friday too. The Slidell Greyhounds walked away with a 48-39 victory over the Era Hornets. Given the Greyhounds' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 416th, while the Hornets are ranked 861st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Era's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Trinity Phillips, who posted 11 points and five assists.

Slidell has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Era, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost six of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-16 record this season.

Slidell and Tioga will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Era, they will square off against Muenster at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Muenster will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something Era surely won't give up without a fight.
