Basketball Recap: Hobbton Falls Despite Big Games from Graci Barefoot and Katie Britt

Hobbton was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their 12th straight loss. They lost to the Union Spartans at home by a 42-24 margin. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Wildcats of the 55-34 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.

Hobbton's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katie Britt, who posted eight points, and Graci Barefoot, who had six points. Barefoot is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as she's posted one of at least 45% in the last three games she's played.

Union got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was ZADARIYAH FAISON out in front who made all 6 shots she took to post 20 points. That makes it ten consecutive games in which FAISON has scored at least a third of Union's points. EVELIN ALVAREZ was another key player, going 5 of 7 on her way to 12 points and six steals.

Hobbton's defeat dropped their record down to 1-14. As for Union, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 3-16.

While Hobbton had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
