Softball Recap: Portland Gets the Win

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Hale Ray, Portland was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Vinal RVT Hawks by a score of 18-14. The Highlanders have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Hawks, too.

Lily Hale was incredible, going 2-for-5 with three stolen bases and three runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Royea, who went 1-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Portland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've posted since the start of last season.

The win got Portland back to even at 1-1.

Portland wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 22-0 defeat against Haddam-Killingworth on the 10th. As for Vinal RVT, they have also already played their next matchup, a 7-4 loss against Cheney Tech on the 9th.
