Softball Recap: Espanola Valley Takes a Loss

If Espanola Valley was riding high fresh off their 17-0 takedown of Albuquerque Academy on Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Sundevils lost 12-2 to the Capital Jaguars on Wednesday. The Sundevils were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Jaguars earlier this season, when they won 8-4.

Nayleah Martinez was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. That home run was her first of the season.

Espanola Valley's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Capital, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-3.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Espanola Valley beat the Jaguars by a score of 8-4 later that day.
