Baseball Recap: Berkeley Finds Home Field Redemption Against Oakland Tech

There's no place like home for Berkeley, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Wednesday. They walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Oakland Tech Bulldogs on Saturday. The Yellowjackets haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive win against them.

Quinton Hill made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over six innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

In other pitching news, Sasha Spahr looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave him a new career-low.

Back at the plate, Isaiah Mays was a standout: he scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (three). Miles Mino was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Berkeley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .414. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Oakland Tech only posted a batting average of .160.

The victory got Berkeley back to even at 1-1. As for Oakland Tech, they moved to 3-1 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Looking ahead, Berkeley will head out on the road to face off against Foothill at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Oakland Tech, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Mt. Eden at 3:30 p.m.
