Football Recap: Idabel Piles Up the Points Against Locust Grove

Idabel got themselves on the board against Locust Grove on Thursday, but Locust Grove never followed suit. They took their game with ease, bagging a 54-0 win over the Pirates. The matchup marked the Warriors' most dominant victory of the season.

Jashawn Dixon had a dynamite game, rushing for 143 yards and one score on only seven carries. Another player making a difference was Mack Dixon, who rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Idabel was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 364 rushing yards. They are 3-1 when they've run for more than 200 yards.

Idabel didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Davion Byrd and Jordyn Lewis. Lewis got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

The win was the third in a row for Idabel, bringing their record up to 4-3. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.0 points over those games. As for Locust Grove, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Idabel will welcome Eufaula at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Warriors will be up against the Ironheads' rather soft defense (which has allowed 41 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Locust Grove, they will be playing at home against Stigler at 7:00 p.m. on the 24th. The Panthers will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more points each game than the last.
