Baseball Recap: Summit Tahoma Comes Up Short

Summit Tahoma had lost seven straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-9 to make it eight. They lost 12-5 to the San Jose Bulldogs. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Bulldogs this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 12-6 back in February.

Nelson Goodwin made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. He also brought in an RBI, marking his first of the season. Andrew Bochert was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs.

As for San Jose, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-8 record. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.

On San Jose's side, Jayson Salguero was a standout: he went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The Bulldogs are 3-1 when Salguero posts two or more runs, but 3-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Roman Rodriguez, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, two doubles, and two RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Summit Tahoma will head out to face off against KIPP San Jose Collegiate at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for San Jose, they will venture away from home to challenge Silver Creek at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
