Basketball Recap: St. John's Takes a Loss

St. John extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 22 on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were dealt a 60-33 defeat at the hands of the Charleston Collegiate Sundevils. The Islanders were down 49-23 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

As for Charleston Collegiate, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 66.0 points over those games.

Charleston Collegiate was led to victory by Thomas Reed and Grant Morrison. Reed went 9-for-17 en route to 20 points and six boards, while Morrison posted six points in addition to ten assists and six steals. Morrison has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 30 times he's played. Kani Butler was another key player, putting up nine points and five rebounds.

Looking ahead, St. John's will be playing at home against Baptist Hill at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Charleston Collegiate, they and Crown Leadership Academy will face off at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday without much rest, having both just played.
