Softball Recap: Lancaster Comes Up Short

Lancaster was the 5-4 winner over Dodgeville when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Flying Arrows took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Dodgers on Thursday. The matchup marked the Flying Arrows' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Maddy Hill spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and five unearned) runs on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Amelia Johnsen made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Lancaster's loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-3. As for Dodgeville, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 6-3.

Coming up, Lancaster will face off against Southwestern at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Dodgeville, they will square off against Mount Horeb at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Vikings will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Dodgers surely won't give up without a fight.
