Volleyball Recap: Grossmont Extends Winning Streak to Four

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Grossmont had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Canyon Crest Academy Ravens. The victory was familiar territory for the Foothillers, who have now won four matches in a row.

Grossmont had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. The match finished with set scores of 22-25, 25-20, 25-22, 25-23.

Leading Grossmont to victory were Jacqueline Villalobos and Kayla Kenis. Villalobos had six aces and four digs, while Kenis had six digs and two aces. Those six aces gave Villalobos a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: Grossmont was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 20 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least eight aces in 15 consecutive contests.

Grossmont's record now sits at 23-10. As for Canyon Crest Academy, their defeat ended a six-match streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-12.

Coming up, Grossmont will square off against El Camino at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Canyon Crest Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
