Basketball Recap: Patuxent Comes Up Short

Patuxent lost against Northern back in January of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Patuxent Panthers took a 45-34 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Northern Patriots. The Panthers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

They got a good chunk of their points from the dynamic duo of Ryleigh Haggerty and Brooke Domonkos, who each put up nine points. Shannon Rullman held things down on the boards with six rebounds. Brooklyn Merritt took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with three assists.

Northern found their leader in sophomore Erin Murphy, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 15 rebounds. The dominant performance gave Murphy a new career-high in boards. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Jones, who posted ten points and five steals.

Patuxent's defeat dropped their record down to 3-3. As for Northern, the victory got them back to even at 4-4.

Patuxent will venture away from home to square off against Chopticon at 6:15 p.m. on Monday. As for Northern, they will host St. Charles at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
