Baseball Recap: Cave Spring Has No Trouble Against Pulaski County

Cave Spring played in-conference for the first time on Tuesday and got just the result they were looking for. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Pulaski County Cougars. That five run margin sets a new team best for the Knights this season.

Landon Mathews spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on eight hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Evan Lee was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Ryan Tibey was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Cave Spring is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-7 record this season. As for Pulaski County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-5.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Cave Spring will face off against rival Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Pulaski County is set to challenge their familiar foe Blacksburg at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are headed into the matchup with plenty of momentum (the Cougars have won six straight at home, while the Bruins won six straight on the road), something that'll have to change.
