Softball Recap: Franklin-Simpson Sets Scoring Season-High Against Russellville

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Franklin-Simpson). Everything went their way against the Russellville Panthers on Tuesday as they made off with a 19-6 victory. With that win, the Wildcats brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.

The team relied heavily on Allie Utley, who went 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and four RBI. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Lilly Ferguson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI.

The victory got Franklin-Simpson back to even at 9-9-1. As for Russellville, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last eight matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

Franklin-Simpson will head out to challenge Todd County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 8.3 runs per game this season. As for Russellville, they will welcome Hopkins County Central at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Panthers are facing the Storm at the right time seeing as the Storm are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
