Basketball Game Preview: Ennis Lions vs. Kaufman Lions

Ennis hasn't had much luck against Kaufman recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Ennis Lions will take on the Kaufman Lions at 5:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

Ennis is headed into Tuesday's contest looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their 12th straight game on Friday. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 42-38 heartbreaker at the hands of Corsicana.

Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Kaufman took on Midlothian Heritage on Saturday. Kaufman fell just short of Midlothian Heritage by a score of 38-36. While the Lions didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Jaguars 16-7 in the first quarter.

Ennis will need focus on slowing down Aubre Prox, one of several Kaufman players who made an impact when they last played. She posted 19 points and four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaylee Wrenn, who almost dropped a double-double on 12 points and nine rebounds.

Kaufman's defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 18-6. As for Ennis, their loss dropped their record down to 6-21.

Ennis ended up a good deal behind Kaufman in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, losing 56-42. Can Ennis avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
