Tracy is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Friday. They will venture away from home to square off against the Edison Vikings at 7:15 p.m.
Last Friday, Tracy lost to Pleasant Valley on the road by a 35-16 margin. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their loss, Tracy saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Brady Brown, who threw for 238 yards and one touchdown while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushed for 31 yards, was perhaps the best of all. 82 of Brown's passing yards were hauled in by Jeno Lawhorn.
Meanwhile, the third road contest was the charm for Edison, as they earned their first away victory of the season. They claimed a resounding 55-18 win over Armijo. The Vikings pushed the score to 48-12 by the end of the third, a deficit the Royals had no chance of recovering from.
Tracy better keep an eye on Devin Rasmussen. He was instrumental in Edison's win, throwing for 306 yards and five TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes, and also rushing for 30 yards. The dominant performance also gave Rasmussen a new career-high in passer rating (163.2). Kailan Beaver was Rasmussen's top target, picking up 110 receiving yards and a pair of scores.
Special teams was a major factor in the game for Edison, racking up 15 points in total. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Antwone Beattie, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.
Edison didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Lavon James and Francis Taamu.
Tracy now has a losing record of 2-3. As for Edison, they picked up their first road victory, bumping their record up to 2-3.
Tracy was dealt a bruising 40-0 defeat at the hands of Edison in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Rasmussen, who threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 11.8 yards per attempt, and also rushed for 33 yards. Now that the Bulldogs know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? There's only one way to find out.
