Soccer Game Preview: West Scranton vs. Holy Cross

The West Scranton Invaders will head out on the road to square off against the Holy Cross Crusaders at 4:15 p.m. on Monday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

West Scranton headed into their last contest having not scored more than one goal for five straight, but Lakeland let them put that streak behind them. The Invaders' defense stepped up to hand the Chiefs a 7-0 shutout on Thursday. The victory was a breath of fresh air for West Scranton as it put an end to their five-match losing streak.

Caleb Kane and Kellan Burnside scored all seven of West Scranton's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 15 goals.

Meanwhile, Montrose kept up with Holy Cross until halftime on Friday, but afterwards: not so much. The Crusaders put the hurt on the Meteors with a sharp 4-1 win. Holy Cross might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by three goals or more this season.

West Scranton's victory bumped their record up to 4-12. As for Holy Cross, their win bumped their record up to 13-6.

West Scranton beat Holy Cross 3-1 in their previous meeting back in September of 2024. Will the Invaders repeat their success, or do the Crusaders have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
