Baseball Recap: Manheim Township Triumphs

It's playoff time, and Manheim Township had no trouble coming through when it counted. They skirted past the Dallastown Wildcats 6-5. That's more bragging rights for the Blue Streaks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Manheim Township got a great performance from Tyler Shirk as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 6.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Shirk a new career-high.

At the plate, Manheim Township saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jacob Carrasco, who got on base in three of his five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another was Lincoln Stoltzfus, who went 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Manheim Township pushed their record up to 15-6 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.7 runs on average over those games. As for Dallastown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 12-9.

Manheim Township has already played their next match, a 4-2 defeat against Hempfield on the 19th. Dallastown does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
