Basketball Recap: Cristian Jones' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Clinton over Newberry + How To Watch

Clinton was the 76-54 winner over Newberry when they last played one another back in December of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Red Devils took a 65-58 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Bulldogs on Monday. Red Devils fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team has lost against the Bulldogs since Monday.

Clinton's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cristian Jones, who posted nine points and three steals. Jones continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. J'shon Nabors was another key player, putting up 11 points and four steals.

Clinton's loss dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Newberry, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-1.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clinton will square off against Belton-Honea Path at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Newberry, they will be defending their home court for the first time this season when they go up against Saluda at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Tigers have now posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
