Baseball Recap: Dickinson Wins Going Away Against University Academy Charter

Dickinson got themselves on the board against University Academy Charter on Tuesday, but University Academy Charter never followed suit. They blew past the Generals 15-0. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in April of 2024.

Carlos Perez made a splash while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Dickinson is 2-1 when he allows at most three earned runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Perez was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Stephen Duran and Ricardo Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Duran got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI, while Hernandez went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Dickinson is 2-1 when Hernandez posts two or more runs, but 4-13 otherwise. Rayner Garcia was another key player, going 1-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Dickinson kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.9 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 games they've averaged 8.8.

Dickinson's victory bumped their record up to 6-14. As for University Academy Charter, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-11 record this season.

Dickinson will take on Secaucus on Thursday. The Rams are facing the Patriots at the right time seeing as the Patriots are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for University Academy Charter, they will face off against Weehawken on Thursday.
