Baseball Recap: Hoopeston Comes Up Short

Hoopeston was the 17-3 winner over LeRoy when they last played one another back in May of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Cornjerkers lost 9-2 to the Panthers on Thursday.

Cole Miller made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run. Another player making a difference was Reydon Montez, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one double.

Hoopeston's loss dropped their record down to 9-18. As for LeRoy, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-8 record this season.

Hoopeston and LeRoy are set to take part in some playoff action in their next matches. The Cornjerkers will be playing in front of their home fans against Watseka at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Hoopeston will need to watch out since the Warriors have now posted at least ten runs in their last three contests. As for LeRoy, they will take on Lexington at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Minutemen will roll in looking for their fourth straight win, something the Panthers surely won't give up without a fight.
