Softball Recap: Riverton Takes a Loss

Riverton extended their losing streak to 12 on Thursday, dropping their season record down to 1-12 in the process. They lost 17-0 to the Athens Warriors. If the Hawks were looking for revenge after losing 22-3 to the Warriors when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Athens, the victory got them back to even at 5-5. That looming 17-0 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

For Athens' part, Aubrey Crispen 2027 was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Crispen 2027 was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, four RBI, and one stolen base.

In other batting news, Athens got a massive performance out of Kenzie Szoke 2026, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and one stolen base. That stolen base was Szoke 2026's first of the season. Reilen Reynolds 2027 was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.

Looking ahead, Riverton will head out to square off against North Mac at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Athens, they will host Pleasant Plains at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
