Amherst County and Liberty are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2018, but likely not for long. The Lancers will head out on the road to take on the Minutemen at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Amherst County's offense has struggled lately (the team hasn't scored more than a single goal for three straight games), a trend the team is no doubt ready to end.

On Tuesday, Amherst County came up short against Jefferson Forest and fell 3-1. While losing is never fun, Amherst County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia soccer rankings (they are ranked 162nd, while Jefferson Forest are ranked 19th).

Meanwhile, Liberty came into Tuesday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They beat Rustburg by a goal, winning 2-1. Liberty wouldn't have won without Caleb Williamson, who scored the game-winner.

Liberty's win bumped their record up to 3-4. As for Amherst County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5-1.

Amherst County took their victory against Liberty when the teams last played back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 5-0 score. Will the Lancers repeat their success, or do the Minutemen have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
