Preview: AuSable Valley Patriots vs. Plattsburgh Hornets

AuSable Valley has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on The Plattsburgh Hornets at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

AuSable Valley fell victim to Saranac's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were dealt a 48-0 loss at the hands of the Chiefs. While losing is never fun, AuSable Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York football rankings (they are ranked 468th, while Saranac is ranked 138th).

Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Plattsburgh, who are still winless after their seventh matchup. They fell 41-34 to Canton on Saturday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.

Plattsburgh's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Dominic Deangelo, who picked up 194 receiving yards and three touchdowns, and Daniel Hartmann who threw for 231 yards and three touchdowns. Deangelo was no stranger to the big play, cutting upfield for a catch that went for 69 yards.

AuSable Valley has traveled a rocky road this season, as they've lost six of their first seven matchups, which leaves them at a 1-6 record this season. As for Plattsburgh, their loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-7.

AuSable Valley beat Plattsburgh 14-6 in their previous matchup back in October of 2022. The rematch might be a little tougher for AuSable Valley since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
