Football Recap: North Miami Takes a Loss

North Miami and Everglades squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but North Miami had to settle for second. They came up short against the Gators, falling 26-0. Having soared to a lofty 37 points in the game before, the Pioneers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Everglades can attribute much of their success to Leilah Lewin, who threw for 229 yards and four touchdowns while completing 78.6% of her passes. Those four passing touchdowns gave Lewin a new career-high.

North Miami now has a losing record of 5-6. As for Everglades, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-3 record this season.

North Miami does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Everglades, they will face off against Mater Academy Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Lions' defense has only allowed 9.1 points per game this season, so the Gators' offense will have their work cut out for them.
