Basketball Recap: Jaden Armes' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Saginaw over Brewer

After flying high against Azle last Tuesday, Saginaw came back down to earth. The Saginaw Rough Riders took a 48-41 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Brewer Bears on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Rough Riders in their matchups with the Bears: they've now lost three in a row.

Saginaw's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jaden Armes, who went 5 of 6 on his way to 10 points. Another player making a difference was Eugene Roseberry, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Brewer got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Calvin Rweyemamu out in front who put up six points and six assists. That's the most assists Rweyemamu has posted since back in December of 2024. Austin Haley was another key player, putting up six points.

Saginaw's defeat dropped their record down to 9-19. As for Brewer, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 16-14.

Saginaw will welcome Aledo at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Aledo will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something Saginaw surely won't give up without a fight. Brewer has already played their next contest (against Granbury), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
