Basketball Recap: Oxford Prep Comes Up Short

Oxford Prep and Wake Prep Academy squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but Oxford Prep had to settle for second. They had to suffer through a 54-10 loss at the hands of the Wake Prep Academy Guardians. The game marked the Griffins' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Wake Prep Academy was led to victory by Zanasha Bolden and Beanie Ballman. Bolden almost dropped a double-double with 15 points and nine rebounds, while Ballman to rack up 14 points along with five boards and five steals. Ballman is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Olivia Langton, who posted six points in addition to nine rebounds and three steals.

This is the second loss in a row for Oxford Prep and nudges their season record down to 8-11. As for Wake Prep Academy, the win was the 15th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 21-3.

Oxford Prep does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Wake Prep Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Warren County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wake Prep Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 53.4 points per game this season.
