Granite Bay extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 15-11. They came up short against the Jesuit Marauders, falling 13-3. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Marauders this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 11-8 on Monday.
Granite Bay got a good showing from Elias Sonnenburg, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits.
On the hitting side, Granite Bay saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was JC Peterson, who went 1-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
As for Jesuit, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 17-10. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
On Jesuit's side, Sammy Kane made a splash no matter where he played. He kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Kane also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Jesuit is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 9-10 otherwise. Kane was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base.
In other batting news, Parker Lipp was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. Stevie Hughes was another key player, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base.
While Granite Bay had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
