Basketball Recap: Stonewall Jackson Comes Up Short

Stonewall Jackson was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their ninth straight defeat. They lost 65-41 to the Luray Bulldogs. The Generals were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in January of 2024.

Luray's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Matthew Owens, who went 6 of 15 on his way to 16 points and five steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Connor Hilliard, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.

Stonewall Jackson's defeat dropped their record down to 1-10. As for Luray, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-2.

Stonewall Jackson and Strasburg will face off at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest having both just played. As for Luray, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Clarke County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Luray's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last three contests.
