Football Game Preview: Everglades Gators vs. Western Wildcats

The Everglades Gators will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Western Wildcats at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.

Everglades is coming home in high spirits after they had to open their season on the road against Miramar. Everglades' defense stepped up to hand Miramar a 26-0 shutout on Tuesday.

A big part of Everglades' victory came down to the chemistry between Leilah Lewin and her top target Amber Beautelus. Lewin threw for 142 yards and two touchdowns while Beautelus picked up 107 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Daniella Haynes got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Everglades didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Haynes and Mariyah Morning.

Meanwhile, Western's offense rose to the challenge against a Knights defense that boasted an average of only 14.75 points allowed on Tuesday. Western blew past Monarch 32-0. The win continues a trend for the Wildcats in their matchups with the Knights: they've now won three in a row.
