Softball Recap: Lamoille Lancers vs. Oxbow Olympians
Lamoille extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to six on Saturday, dropping them down to 0-5. They came up short against the Oxbow Olympians, falling 22-10. If the Lancers were looking for revenge after losing 26-0 to the Olympians when the teams met back in May of 2025, then they'll just have to keep looking.
As for Oxbow, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-1. Considering they have won five contests by more than nine runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
For Oxbow's part, Brooke Osgood was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing four innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Osgood was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, Maisy Frydman and Abby Longto did most of the damage at the plate: Frydman got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI, while Longto went 3-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. That triple marked the first that Frydman has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Mazie Bourgeois, who went 2-for-5 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Lamoille will head out to face off against Thetford Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Oxbow, they will venture away from home to square off against White River Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
