Basketball Game Preview: L.C. Bird Skyhawks vs. James River Midlothian Rapids

The L.C. Bird Skyhawks will take on the James River Midlothian Rapids at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in L.C. Bird's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last nine contests.

Last Wednesday, L.C. Bird strolled past Huguenot with points to spare, taking the game 68-49. Given the Skyhawks' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 48th, while the Falcons are ranked 222nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, James River Midlothian came up short against Clover Hill on Thursday and fell 70-61. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Wednesday (60), the Rapids still had to take the loss.

James River Midlothian's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-5. As for L.C. Bird, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.
